"They Fight Crime!" by Leah Bobet

She’s an archeologist with the power to bend men’s minds.
He’s a fire-wielding accountant on a mission from God.
“They Fight Crime!”

In fact, Jack is an adulterous accountant, and what he and Terri are up to in the back seat of his ’75 Caddy is screwing around. “Fighting Crime” is the euphemism they use to evade the unpleasant reality. Then euphemism unexpectedly becomes reality, and the unlikely superheroes are finally forced to confront the consequences of their acts.

Leah Bobet sketches this tale in a series of quick, deft strokes with a sharp ironic edge.
