“No One Dies of Longing” by Anjali Sachdeva
The narrator of “No One Dies of Longing” by Anjali Sachdeva is one of the women who labor in the garden of a rich man. The women are forced to remain with the man, unable to return to their homes, because he keeps their passports locked up in an iron box. The narrator uses magic to free the women.
This fairly brief tale is a familiar one of supernatural revenge. The method the narrator uses adds some originality. There are few surprises in the plot, but the story can be appreciated for its lush, vivid descriptions.
