“Your Final Moments On Earth” by Brittany Rainsdon

The narrator of “Your Final Moments On Earth” by Brittany Rainsdon is a robot programmed to offer end-of-life care, both physical and psychological. It addresses a dying woman while providing her with comfort medication, sympathetic conversation, and the opportunity to recall memories lost to Alzheimer’s disease.
The story is full of heartfelt and sincere emotions. The fact that the woman’s memories are both joyful and tragic adds to its poignancy. One might quibble as to whether the empathetic narrator needs to be a robot rather than a human caregiver, despite the presence of a few futuristic details.
