“Which Super Little Dead GirlTM Are You? Take Our Quiz and Find Out!” by Nino Cipri

“Will You Meet Me There, Out Beyond the Bend?” by Matthew Kressel

The dead interact with the world of the living in two very different ways in the stories offered this month.

As its title implies, “Which Super Little Dead GirlTM Are You? Take Our Quiz and Find Out!” by Nino Cipri takes the form of multiple choice questions, designed to reveal which of four fictional characters the reader most resembles. They are all female children who have died in horrible ways, but who have come back from the grave to fight evil. Although this bagatelle is an accurate pastiche of the sort of thing found all over the internet, it offers little but mild diversion.

Much more serious is “Will You Meet Me There, Out Beyond the Bend?” by Matthew Kressel. A woman killed in a car accident haunts the place she died, along with several other ghosts who lost their lives in the same way. They yearn to connect with the living who drive by, but are completely unperceived. The dead woman remembers her living identity, and the series of events that led to her demise. Although well written and richly characterized, this story lacks a completely satisfying resolution. In particular, much more could have been done with the Neverman, a supernatural being feared by the ghosts.

Victoria Silverwolf is Super Little Dead GirlTM Madelyn, according to the quiz.
