October’s Wedding of the Month” by Emma McDonald

Reviewed by Christos Antonaros

If you think your wedding day was a complete mess and full of dark secrets, then wait until you read “October’s Wedding of the Month” by Emma McDonald, and you might reconsider. For, when it comes to dark secrets and gory conditions, a marriage ceremony by a Cthulhu cult is by far the winner. Narrated as an article in a magazine about weddings, the author is giving us the Lovecraftian horror behind the eyes of the bride and groom. Funny and creepy at the same time, the details prior, during, and after the ceremony are attention grabbing. Even though it’s a very short story, it is a pleasantly weird way to spend five minutes of your day.
