“Daisy” by Paul DesCombaz
Reviewed by Kris Rudin
“Daisy” by Paul DesCombaz is a very effective horror story. We start in a basement, where two men are trapped, one of whom has a mortal injury. Outside are some sort of mutated dogs, one of which is the protagonist’s dog, Daisy. We are treated to vivid descriptions of the death and decomposition of the wounded man, and the struggles of the protagonist to stay alive – mostly by eating bugs. This is not a story for those who are easily grossed out. The tension builds nicely, and the ending is perfect.
