“The Rewilding” by Ben Goldfarb

“The Rewilding” by Ben Goldfarb tells the tale of the American plains being resettled by “The Angels” with African wildlife while a single family, a father, Alvin and his daughter Sadie, attempt to retain their hold on a lost society against the inevitable, the last of the old world attempting to survive within the new paradigm. First came the herd beasts, then the larger “megafauna” life forms, then the carnivores. “No man is an island”, the Angels warned. The question is raised whether Alvin will succumb to the temptation of Mojitos in Miami. Just when you think he has become hardened and the beauty of the Rewilding has faded, the human heart warms and a young life is saved. They all belong there, on the infinite prairie.
