In a near future where online social media drives everything, an author is tasked with removing all carcinogens from his life, while writing about his experiences. But, as we know even in this era of social media, sometimes what the audience wants can change in an instant. “Carcinogens” is a mildly amusing extrapolation of today’s online-driven entertainment, but the attempt falls a little flat. It’s clear the author is trying to be clever, but that cleverness is too obvious, overpowering the story itself.
