“A Night with Hui ‘Enehana ‘Ike” by Maʻemaʻeolehua Matsumoto

Reviewed by Victoria Silverwolf

In “A Night with Hui ‘Enehana ‘Ike” by Ma’ema’eolehua Matsumoto a technical worker rushes around trying to fix a problem with a computer system that makes uses of plants. As the title indicates, the story makes use of many Hawaiian terms, which will confuse readers not familiar with them. Those with little knowledge of computers will also find the plot difficult to follow. The speculative biotechnology is interesting, and the work makes for a pleasant, if unexciting, slice of life of the near future.
