The past, present, and future mingle together in “Old Fighter Pilots” by Samuel Jensen. This brief tale begins with an ordinary day in a typical suburban household. A description of the prehistoric past, as well as historic occurrences and events of the near future, interrupt the narration. A visitor from a war-torn future enters the story. The narrative style is subdued, which fits the theme, but readers may find it difficult to relate to the characters emotionally.
