“12 Things A Trini Should Know Before Travelling To A Back In Times Fete™” by R. S. A. Garcia

“12 Things A Trini Should Know Before Travelling To A Back In Times Fete™” by R. S. A. Garcia takes the form of a set of precautions for travelers visiting Trinidad and Tobago during the time of slavery. These warnings deal both with the brutality of colonialism and the hazards of time paradoxes.

The author makes use of the time travel theme imaginatively while simultaneously providing a history lesson. However, readers familiar with tales of journeys in time will find little else new here. The story’s instructional structure, without characters or events, has a distancing effect.

Victoria Silverwolf has never been to Trinidad and Tobago.
